let's play 20 questions

...and any other games. DRC hosted a game night with probably the biggest turn out for a single game night at Feil Hall that i've ever seen. but having such a big turn-out has both pros and cons. the pros was lots of people=the more the merrier, but the con was that it's hard to get that many ppl to all want to play the same game with the same amount of enthusiasm. eventually the group splintered up to play different games.

looking all playa, playa

overall the night was pretty fun (although it got a little dicey when DRC tried to get us to play the vH1 i love the 80s game). once again, i rocked Pop 5. eventually the game digressed to where they just used the cards from Pop 5 to play charades. and of course, as is the custom when at a party at DRC's, someone spilled the bowl of tortilla chips.speaking of parties, DRC and i went to the Inter-APALSA event at Vesta last night. initially i didn't really want to go the city but since i'd finally finished my Memorandum of Law for Fundamentals of Legal Drafting, i just felt the necessity to go out and it seemed like nobody was staying around locally so there was no alternative but to go to the city. ironically, it ended up being DRC, Creeper and me that went together to the event. who would've guessed that that trio would be the one together? awkward...
in the end it was a good idea going to the city. altho the Inter-Apalsa event was definitely not as successful as last year (when Co-Chair and i were the social chairs for APALSA. even tho our reign had its own kinks, at least we always had big turn outs to our events), BLS came out and represented (we always do). Vesta played good music, fun to dance to, and DRC and i got our dancing shoes on. at one point DRC made the decision that she should totally be a go-go dancer instead of a lawyer, and i agree. BigPapa had a table with a bottle (although we were polite and only had once cup between DRC and i-we're not complete mooches).

a few interesting things happened:
(1) the Twins came back into my life! both of them happened to be at the event (yes, asians are that clique-y. we do all know each other). it was really good catching up w/them.
(2) apparently Wifey told SuperAzn that i hate her and want to punch her in the face, which is completely untrue. i only barely know SuperAzn aside from the fact that she's Princess's mentee, from NYU, and is (as by the nickname) super-asian. honestly, Wifey's got to grow up. i know she's very insecure and likes to be the "i'm-super-straightforward-don't-care-if-you-don't-like-it" type, but she also has this mean-streak because of all that and talks a lot of shit about everybody. you always gotta be careful with that girl.
(3) DRC invited a guy from Vesta to Floyd's, thinking he was hitting on me, but in actuality he was waiting for her. the guy came over to me and DRC while we were dancing and we were about to leave to head back to Brooklyn. right at the moment he got there DRC ran off to the bathroom and the guy just continued to stand there next to me. it was kind of awkward. it was pretty obvious he was just biding time until DRC got back so i just politely made convo with him until she got back (where you from, we're heading back to Brooklyn, etc.). when DRC got back from the bathroom i immediately walked away so that he could get on with business. she invited him to Floyd's and he said yes and started to follow us and DRC ran over to me to let me know she did me a favor by inviting him to Brooklyn until i explained he was hitting on her not me. how do i know? while DRC was in the bathroom i was conversing with the guy and told him we were leaving and heading to Brooklyn which he commented was too far for him since he lived in Murray Hill. but as i walked away and he was talking to DRC and she invited him to Brooklyn i distinctly heard him say, "yea, sure i'll go". so DRC inadvertently returned the affection of the guy hitting on her and ultimately gave him her number.
(4) Lockbox, Hapa, and 2.0 just prove that all boys are dogs. in the span of the night all 3 of them peed in alleyways. Lockbox was the worst b/c he peed outside as soon as we hopped out of the cab although we were right outside of Floyd's and were about to go in. he couldn't wait the 3 seconds to walk into Floyd's and use their bathroom.

i hadn't really intended to go out for anything significant since i still had to edit my paper which was due the next day at 11 am but of course the night ended up with me getting home at 4 am and had to wake up at 9 to do work. i am completely exhausted right now, but had a great time last night. what a good call on going out.

brownchickenbrowncow

hilarious (and complimentary) convo w/BigPapa:

BigPapa: i didn't realize iwas supposed to do stuff
i thought i just sat around and looked sexy
damnit

Me: hahaha
now you have to do stuff AND look sexy at the same time
phew

that's tough
BigPapa: seriously
sigh
i'm going to put up for a vote at the general meeting
a new position called "sexyness rep"
we can be cochairs
:-D

now how flattering is that? i saw BigPapa later today and he also inadvertently called me a hottie as well. gotta love BigPapa.

school's offiically started and it's been a whirlwind, seeing ppl i haven't seen in a while and all that. albeit to say, lots of drinks have been had. there was an unofficial party at Floyd's which ended up turning into a mini pub-crawl for the 3Ls. it was great to see all those ppl out at Floyd's (even 4A showed up! that's a momentous occasion since they usually never leave the apartment), but Floyd's, while decently sized, isn't equipped for that voluminous crowd. it was stifingly hot in there and super crowded and getting a drink was a nightmare. everybody decided to move over to Last Exit instead, which was much more mellow and full of only friendly faces (as opposed to 1Ls that i don't recognize or know...yet).

many, many, many drinks were imbibed and ridiculous conversations were had before we went over to Brazen Head as the final stop. i was a trooper all the way (but i still left before DRC, Coleslaw and Cubed: they're beasts!). i was in such bad shape the next day. i mean, it was bad...

i had the complete intention of staying in Friday night to properly recover but there was the BLS pub crawl going on. i thought i was being smart by going to just the tail-end of the event and showed up at Trout around midnight. however, 1 beer turned into 2 and so on and so forth. we were at Trout until they kicked us out and then proceeded to Brazen until they kicked us out of there before heading back to Feil only to try and post-party at DRC's. luckily for me that fizzled out quick and i managed to get into bed just as the sun was rising...

only to have to wake up at 10:30 am! i had made a brunch date for Lockbox to meet KimChi but we had to be there by 11:30 b/c KimChi was going into work at 1:00 pm. i dragged myself out of bed, got ready in time and went down to pick up Lockbox and head over to Chinatown except Lockbox wasn't ready. that bastard. i had to wait for him to pick out clothes and get ready before we could head out. luckily KimChi was running late too.

on the way over to dim sum brunch, Lockbox and i had an interesting conversation about guys. we universally agreed that men are all dogs, but the degree of doggy-ness varies on a sliding scale. using Lockbox as a barometer (he's a self-proclaimed 8) we came to the decision that generally good guys are 6s. basically, all men have to start at at least 5. b/c essentially they're all dogs. for instance, Egg's probably a 5 (a generally nice and sweet guy w/more stringent fooling around standards); Mr.Frenzy's probably a 6 (still a nice and sweet guy but could possibly be tricked into doing something if VERY intoxicated) and so on and so forth. what do you think?

we ended up eating dim sum at Oriental Garden which is right next to Jing Fong. honestly, i think Jing Fong's better. there's more variety and more space. the set-up or introduction (whatever you want to call it) didn't go as well. i give up on Lockbox. he committed 3 cardinal sins at that brunch:

1st: he had an opportunity to sit next to KimChi but instead sat next to me. Snoopy even tried to race him to sit next to me so that Lockbox could sit next to KimChi and they could actually converse.
2nd: Lockbox wasn't as witty and open as he usually is. it was to the point that KimChi forgot his name. when i mentioned Crush, Lockbox's roommate was having a birthday party that night, KimChi turned to me and went, "who's Lockbox?"; it was super funny.
3rd: somehow the conversation about all men being dogs came up but i purposely didn't mention Lockbox being an 8 b/c i didn't want to blow up his spot. it would never have come up b/c KimChi didn't ask what Lockbox was but then Lockbox, like the genius he is, volunteers the info that he's an 8 all on his own. aish...that night, i headed over to 4A which was pregaming for Crush's and LF's and a whole bunch of other ppl's bday party in the city. DRC had just come back from a day at Jones Beach and was the color of a lobster. then something interesting happened: Crush offered DRC some aloe to put on her skin b/c apparently he had some. he leads her to the bathroom and gives her the lotion. then he just stands there. it was super creeper mcgee. so DRC awkwardly applies the lotion while Crush stands at the door and watches. what makes it even more hysterical is that DRC goes to return the lotion to Crush and he points to her chest area and goes, "you're the most red here, you should put some on here". umm, thanks for you concern buddy, but could you not stare at my chest while i'm lotioning? now, we all know Crush is actually one of the most polite and nice guys so i'm gonna chalk this creeper incident up to alcohol and birthday shenanigans.

if you love something, set it free...

my last duties as Co-Social Chair of APALSA was the Alumni Dinner. and luckily i didn't have to do much b/c the Alumni Chairs took care of most of it. the only thing i had to really plan or take care of was the after party at Floyd's. the set-up was long and tedious but once that was all taken care of and the dinner started i was completely free to do what i wanted and passed off all duties to the new e-board. so i proceeded to get rocked.

i was so excited to eat the food and hadn't really eaten anything that day so that i could eat all the food. i even got a mountainous plate. and then i got sidetracked somehow. don't ask me how, i can't remember. i don't know how time just flew by but it did and then i had to hurriedly go downstairs and change and head over to Floyd's to set-up the drink deal and tickets with the bartenders. and i ended up not eating any of my food. that just blows.
i remember the beginning of Floyd's. i remember saying "hi" to ppl and forgetting my wallet. yet somehow, i got more rocked as the night progressed. even tho i had no money. interesting. i'm sure there was a lot of generous drink-buying going on b/c i know i had a lot of jack and cokes. any pics taken at Floyd's on my camera are ones i have no memory of.

there was something that happened that night that i do remember tho. and good thing i did. ManEater was out at Floyd's and all the 2L APALSA guys were fawning over her and i noticed Crush hovering on the edges of that crowd of fawning boys. i happen to run into ManEater on the way to the bathroom and we have this convo where she reveals that she thinks Crush is really cute (naturally i agree) and i reveal i have a Crush on crush too. being younger than me ManEater immediately starts eating her words and backtracking but i assure her it's alright: after all, he's obviously like-able or else i wouldn't like him right? who wants a crush that when you tell ppl they give you that "blech" face? through some other weird twist of events i end up being at the bar standing next to Crush and we start chatting. i mention i noticed him noticing ManEater and (in a moment of complete selflessness) i reveal to him that ManEater's definitely interested and he should go over and talk to her. he's kinda shy and takes his time so i give him a few more pushes of encouragement and they're off! and they've been a couple since.
i guess the old adage is true: if you love something, set it free. if it comes back to you, it's yours. if it doesn't, then it never was. ok, so i do understand the logic behind the saying. but i'll admit this: whenever you do "set something free" you do so always hoping that they'll come back and it sucks when they don't.

why is kansas so windy?

b/c Oklahoma sucks and Nebraska blows!

i'm not sure how long Egg was waiting to tell this joke but when he finally did it was perfect timing. we were sitting at Floyd's and on the left side him was a guy from Nebraska while on the right side of him sat a girl from Oklahoma. how much better a set up for that joke can you get?

aside from that moment of hilarity, he was also involved in another pretty comical incident. when we 1st got to the bar (which smelled like fish that night-blech), we had to wait at the bar for a drink. all of a sudden a Dolly Parton song comes on and Egg, being Egg, loved it and he promptly said so. then this random girl sitting in front of us turned around and announced:

"this song sucks."

it was so weird! it's not like we knew her! and here she was striking up a random convo w/Egg while he had me and another girl already w/him. how did she know Egg wasn't 1 of ours' boyfriend? ok, so he's not, but still she didn't know that. regardless she goes through a whole spiel about how the song sucks and how Floyd's is so crowded b/c all tourists go there (implying Egg's a tourist) and etc. so when we finally get our drinks and join the others who have a table Egg immediately goes into what happened and i chime in about the boyfriend part and how that's such an immature way to start a flirty convo. this naturally sparks the interest of the ppl at the table who weren't there for this incident and they all start looking towards the bar to get a glimpse of this girl. we decide to send Egg back to the bar and stand behind the girl and point her out while we all watch. it was a pretty funny image. there's Egg, who's about 6 ft tall, standing behind the girl w/his finger pointing down at her from above her head while all of us at the table are staring straight at him.

i had't planned on going out for a drink but Egg convinced me and just based on the joke and that incident it was totally worth it.

a pounding headache

i'm hiding out in my room for exams, but i'm still not being very productive. as evidenced by this entry. so sad can't make it to Stitch's holiday party at Opus 22. come to think of it, i missed it last year too b/c of exams. i'm also missing Debs' friend's holiday party. sigh. it's at this amazing apt located right near Union Square above the Chase Bank. you can't miss it. it looks like the kind of apt that exists in movies about 20-somethings living in Manhattan. except this person's real. and friends w/Debs.

since i can't go to these fun events, i'll just reminisce about an event that i've been meaning to write about for a while but hadn't gotten around to it: BLSPI Talent Show. i didn't go last yr, but decided to go this yr and help out (yes, i'm actually part of another org aside from APALSA). turns out they really didn't need my help but i stayed and Brantley and Ol' met me there. i was still on antibiotics from the plague at that time and i remember i was feeling pretty loopy from just 2 beers (yea antiobiotics!). the show was pretty good:
1. Chase Honeycup sang and played guitar. funny antics ensued involving the mic stand and Chase's height
2. BLS has its very own Jewish lawyer version of Eminem! he was actually really good and i'm kicking myself for not remembering his name. it was something hysterical...
3. the girl who should've won was actually something totally unplanned. some random girl was running towards the stage during intermission and took a massive digger. that everyone saw. i know it's mean to laugh at the person who falls, but it was funny. and for some reason the way it happened/how she did it was so that nobody there didn't see it
4. Institution did TaeKwonDo. umm, at least i think it was Tae Kwan Do...think he'll kick my ass if i misquote it? he does take it really seriously...
5. asians breakdancing. yea, you heard me right. well, actually, 1 asian. but still impressive. i remember Buddy and i rushing to the front and grabbing seats in the 1st row when it was time for breakdancers. we're such a couple of groupies.

so yea, the event was fun as a whole. but of course the really fun stuff happens afterwards, when everyone goes out for more drinks. we started out at Brazen Head which was completely packed. Egg and i walked there together w/some others and an argument got started about who should've won the talent show which somehow snowballed into an argument about gender and social trends. awkward. once it got too serious i just stayed neutral but Egg seemed pretty mad and left not long after getting to the bar.

or wait, did he? things were pretty chaotic. i remember stealing Buddy's hat and wearing it around and then Kinky and i got completely engrossed in a conversation about antics related to his name. this conversation was actually how Kinky got this nickname. and recently i found out from Egg that Kinky's got an Asian fetish. maybe that's why we were having that convo. hmmm...

we later travelled to Floyd's where i kept bugging Buddy, and in retrospect, i might've been cockblocking him. my bad... afterwards, Kinky and i went to Brantley's to potentially drink some more. then something weird happened.

Kinky and i were talking while walking into the elevator and then Brantley walked in w/this random guy. i could swear they were talking when i saw them. then he went w/us to Brantley's and we sat around drinking wine and Brantley was hiding out in the kitchen w/Kinky when the topic of pancakes came up but Brantley claimed to be too drunk to make them. then things were all of a sudden weird-like the atmosphere was weird. Kinky said he'd be leaving and the random guy went w/him.

now, the whole time i'd just assumed that Brantley knew this guy; that they'd met at Floyd's or just knew him from BLS since he lived in Feil. but nope. he was just some random guy. Kinky came back to Brantley's about 15 mins later which makes me realize how oblivious i am (that Kinky knew to draw this guy away but to come back). Brantley made us pancakes (yea!) and then i headed home where i passed right out b/c by that time i'd started to get that wine-related pounding headache.

as a post-script i was recently informed that that night was a just a fluke for random weird guy and he's actually very cool. who knew?

Cliche Law School Scandal

welcome back to BLS! which means final exam grades have been posted and a whole new semester of classes and briefs and outlining and...o man!! well, in order to tepper that fact SBA decided to have an event at Floyd's which was, as these things go, pretty fun i must admit. Even got Wifey to go out and Gohm to cross the Brooklyn bridge on a thursday night.

Adidas was pretty drunk before we headed out and came over while i watched Grey's Anatomy. At some point he started to harass Wifey and they were scurrying back and forth between my room and hers hitting and harassing each other. and i realized i'm back in school. like school, school; like college-school. i guess i thought it'd be different since everyone's older, but school just makes everybody a student again.

had a great time at Floyd's, ran into ppl i have classes w/and bonded and then we took Adidas to Happy Days Diner to get some food in him to sober him up and then headed home. Here's where the scandal comes in. Wifey ran into the Bobsey Twins while we were there and turns out Tweedledee was there w/her Civ Pro professor. who is around his 30s. and very hot. and the Bobsey Twins are reknowned for their "easy" morals. the next day rumors were abound that Tweedledee hooked up w/Mr. Civ Pro. and Wifey claims she heard a strange man voice in our apartment around the wee a.m. hours.

sigh, hooking up w/the prof? and coincidentally getting an "A"? that's just so cliche...
