AGAIN with the dream?

as i've mentioned before, i get really disturbed when i have dreams about real people. don't ask me why, i really couldn't tell you. and it disturbs me more when it's people that i know in real life, but haven't seen in years. it's even more disturbing when it's someone i know in real life, haven't seen in years, and wasn't that close with to begin with.

because then i feel like a creeper.

a week ago, i had a really weird dream about a boy i went to high school with, let's call him MitsubishiG, and a girl i went to high school with, let's call her Tulip. MitsubishiG and Tulip were both a year older than me and had dated on-again-and-off-again in high school. they were the quintessential suburban-high-school-prom-king-prom-queen-footballer-cheerleader couple.  i was briefly friends with MitsubishiG when i was freshman and he dated my friend for a few weeks but that ended when they broke up. after that, we never really travelled in the same circles again.

so here's what happened in my dream (from what i can remember): MitsubishiG and Tulip were married and had become C-list celebrities on a trashy reality show.  they were a completely white-trash couple doing awful things for viewership and ratings. and the last thing i remember was they were getting renewed for a 2nd season and were releasing a sex tape.

weird, right? and not very nice either.

i can guess why i dreamed up the reality show part of it, because i'm pretty sure the last thing i'd watched on tv that night was the Jersey Shore.  but it doesn't explain why i dreamed about these particular people. in fact, until that dream, i hadn't heard their names mentioned since college, if even then!

what also bothered me was why i dreamed that they were married. so of course, i spent a good 15 minutes facebooking and googling their names.  as it turns out, MitsubishiG doesn't have a facebook page (there are still people like this out there? crazy).  but Tulip has one.

and guess what? her name's no longer Tulip. it's Mrs. MitsubishiG.

traitor

so i finally broke down and watched Jersey Shore this weekend. there was nothing else on TV while i was waiting for the Super Bowl to start. i initially purposely avoided watching Jersey Shore because of its stereotyping of people from NJ (of which i am one of them). and while yes, it's true, those types of people that are featured in Jersey Shore do exist in NJ, they also exist in Long Island, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens, etc. so i don't think it's fair that the show's called Jersey Shore (although yes, that's where it's located).

i started to turn the corner when someone told me that only 1 person in the house was actually from NJ. everyone else was from NY. i thought, "ok, as long they made that clear and it's shown that these ppl are not actually representative of the NJ demographic, maybe i can watch this show." even tho i'd opened up a little to the idea, i still abstained based on principle. but then Poopy made me watch 2 video parodies about Jersey Shore.

i watched the above and "Little Jersey Shore" and my interest was completely piqued. so when the marathon was airing on MTV on Sunday i couldn't stop myself from looking at it like a giant wart on the face of someone you're talking to. i stumbled upon the marathon at the end of the episode where Snooki was punched in the face by some random guy. damn. i really wanted to see that. but no worries, i got to see Ronnie knock some guy out with just 1 punch. so it was all worth it.

speaking of mindless television, i've also become addicted to We Got Married, a korean "reality" show where celebrities are paired together and act as if they're husband and wife. i used to watch this show a lot back in the day when Alex & Shinae and Kim Hyung Joong & HwangBo were on it. but after they left it was a lot less interesting and then the budget was cut and it became less interesting. until Petite Couple! the wife, Ga-In, is 24 yrs old and the husband, JoKwon, is 22 years old. they are hilarious together which makes it fun to watch but also their behavior really keeps you guessing whether they really are/going to start dating.

below is a clip where Ga-In is going to meet her "father-in-law", JYP, who is JoKwon's boss. aside from the hilarity in the clip, i really really like her version of JYP's song, "I Have a Girl".

here's the original so you can hear the difference. while they're both similar (clearly), the way Ga-In executes it is so distinctive.

our own Hills cast

so at some point, on a night when DRC and i were recovering at Coleslaw's place, we stumbled upon the MTV Real World/Road Rules Award Show. totally hilarious. it was really all about showing the most memorable moments and then picking a favorite one. o, that and having all the old cast members get completely wasted. sigh, how i sometimes wish i had been able to be on Real World, although not any of the new casts b/c it's only about hooking up and getting wasted, but the old ones. they were the best. it wasn't like jerry-springer-reality-tv every episode. i think i'd wanna be on old Real World or else Inferno b/c that's the most exciting (someone always fights and gets kicked off & someone always goes to the hospital)-but let's be real, i wouldn't last 1 challenge on Inferno.

somehow in the midst of all this, we started talking about the Hills and we decided we could each be a character. writing this right now reminded me of when every woman and her clique of friends did the same thing w/Sex and the City. how times have changed. i can't remember who was who: i think i was Whitney or LC and Coleslaw was Lo but i remember DRC was not happy w/who we labeled her as. which probably means we said she was Audrina (for sticking w/a guy who's a total dick) or Heidi. i don't think it was Heidi (b/c she's my least favorite character) so let's go w/Audrina.
